The Real Value of Money
I have decided to write something about an issue that has bewildered me for an eternity. We tried having all these gun laws in our Country and we try to have the rest of the World see us as a Peace Loving Nation.
So here I am in a little bank or should I say a little branch of a Big Bank. I am distracted by all the noise of some men propping the doors open to ease their access to the bank with their dolly. It just appalls me that they are carrying weapons in open holsters. They have their hands ready to quick draw as if they were on the streets of Dodge City with Marshall Dillon.
The year is 2012 and this scene sticks to me like stink on a skunk. Why is it so imperative to have this fire power to protect this valuable commodity we call money.
I live in a city that is crowned murder capital year after year and where violence is said to be now worse than 60 years ago.
This city where seniors are beaten at banks at banking machines and where citizens are stabbed for purses, shoes, jackets and skateboards. This certainly is a more violent city then it was in the sixties and murders and attempted murders seem to be happening on a daily basis.
Yet time after time we are told that there is not a problem here even though we approve a million dollar budget for a police helicopter on an annual basis that is up in the sky a few hours a day.
Citizens have their homes busted into while they are home. They are terrorized while their homes are ransacked. Others have their homes riddled with bullets in drive by shootings and Police are now wearing bullet proof vests and having laws passes to stop the criminals from wearing the same armor protection. To me this seems contradictory to a city that says violence is no more today than in the past.
Even a big air carrier did not want its staff staying in the downtown core due to the risk it posed to its employees.
It is against the law for the honest citizens to carry weapons to protect themselves. People are unable to protect themselves from acts of violence yet the city puts up more cameras to make the citizens safer. I sure hope some of these cameras can leap from their positions to give me hand when I need them, but in the meantime I find it strange how big companies like Banks can have their MONEY protected by people carrying guns. Money can be replaced but lives cannot be replaced. It makes me believe that the powers to be are aware that the cameras mounted all over the place cannot protect the money any better than they can protect the citizens and all the cameras would do is give a picture of the perpetrator, which in bank robberies would probably be someone in a Halloween mask.

NO ONE WANTS TO LOOK AT YOUR PRIVATE PARTS
READING THINGS LIKE THIS MAKE ME ANGRY. DONT PEOPLE HAVE BETTER THINGS TO COMPLAIN ABOUT. HOSPITALS ARE BUSY AND SHORTSTAFFED ENOUGH WITHOUT HAVING TO WORRY ABOUT PEOPLES PETTY PRIVACY ISSUES. WE WOULD ALL LIKE A PRIVATE ROOM – WHO WOULDNT. RATIONAL PEOPLE KNOW THAT SOMETIMES THIS IS JUST NOT FEASABLE AT THE BEST OF TIMES. YOU JUST HAVE TO SUCK IT UP AND DEAL WITH IT. YOU ARE LUCKY TO HAVE A BED – IN A ROOM-AND GETTING QUALITY HEALTH CARE. IF YOU’RE WORRIED ABOUT PRIVACY SO BAD – STAY AT HOME AND MEDICATE YOURSELF. DONT HASSLE NURSES WHO HAVE MUCH MORE IMPORTANT THINGS TO DEAL WITH. HOSPITALS ARE NOT HOTELS, YOU DONT TIP THEM. WHILE THEY CATER TO YOUR WHINEY ASS SOMEBODY IN THE NEXT ROOM COULD BE DYING. IF I WAS LYING THERE NEXT TO HER YOU CAN BET SHE WOULD GET HER PRIVACY BECAUSE I WOULD BE LOOKING THE OTHER WAY GAURANTEED. SHOULD THIS EVEN BE FRONT PAGE NEWS? COME ON PEOPLE.

O Canada We Stand On Guard For Thee
There was a time when I was proud to be a Canadian and over the years I shake my head and wish my country would make us all shine to the rest of the World.
It seems the only thing that Politicians are concerned with now is to stand out in the World Arena as having a solid economy and a great outlook for debt reduction in the future.
In order to this, my Government is attempting to convince Canadians that working until 70 increases health and helps avoid illness and depression. Be productive and you will thrive in this society. We are constantly told things like Canadians are now living longer than ever before. At the same time we are told the negative news of how the aging baby boomers will add to the debt with illnesses, and hospitalization. We have already been told that the Old Age Security would have to be raised to the age of 67 to make it sustainable. Only a few generations have had this luxury and it was all the working boomers that made this possible. Now that they have worked their 40 years, it appears that the majority of the Canadian Population will be asked to give even more. You can be sure that in the future you will see the OAS and the CPP raised to the age of 70. After all we need to keep money in the public coffers to pay for all the pensions for the politicians and all the bailouts for big corporations and banks so they can ensure that their CEOs get their million dollar bonuses.
The thing that disgusts me the most is how the same government spoils the Criminals it incarcerates with spiritual care givers, psychologists and psychiatrists, counselors, teachers, nurses, and program facilitators. They get cable TV, gym memberships, prescriptions, and even drugs for hep. C and HIV ordinary workers could never afford. Let us not forget the methadone for severely addicted people. Now I would bet the criminals would be first on a transplant list and am pretty sure that if an Inmate convinced the treatment team that all their woes were due to a woman trapped in a man’s body that our system would also pay for the sex change operation and all the counseling before and after.
These people have chosen to do wrong over and over again and get three meals a day while people in hospitals and nursing homes get fly in food.
This is a shame and shame on CANADA. The people in nursing homes and care homes and hospitals are those that built this country and fought in wars to defend our freedom and all the things we take for granted yet enjoy daily. These old worn out workers get plastic food and pay 12 dollars a day for TV.
Even a BIGGER SHAME is all the soldiers who volunteered for Canada and went to Afghanistan who were wounded, lost limbs, eyes and whatever return to a Canada where the Government of the day starts laying off all those people hired to help them. Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder is real and is lasting problem and must be dealt with ASAP but yet the Federal Government makes help almost impossible for those soldiers suffering from it.
I must repeat my shame for my country and its treatment of the old heroes and the new heroes. What makes it worse is my government continues to reward negative behavior and refuses to reward those that choose to live good lives and make the right choices including becoming soldiers defending our freedoms.
Volunteering to the ARMED FORCES and neglected by the Government that used their help. Now forgotten and silenced.
Does it seem right to you that Convicted Criminals in Canada have so much and Soldiers who have done nothing wrong at all, except to volunteer, get so little.

THOSE DAMN SPEED TRAPS
What I find insulting to my limited intelligence is all the hype on photo radar in Manitoba. The City and the Province both say how it makes our roads safer and there are those that say it is just a cash generator for spend thrift Governments.
When I was a teenager ripping around in a loud beater I got stopped by the local constabulary many times. I was issued a ticket by someone that treated me with respect and I gave that respect back to the Officer. Many times the Officer would give me a lecture on driving fast or not paying attention. Many times I was given a warning to fix things like brake lights or headlights. The police that stopped us actually were checking our vehicles for safety or road worthiness and I would bet that making polite conversation with us would clue them in to whether or not we had been drinking.
Today we get tickets by mail and none of these safety measures are done. Unlike when I was a teenager, today we have all kinds of stolen vehicles running around, unregistered vehicles and even vehicles with stolen plates on their cars. Many of these very cars are involved in accidents, resulting in personal injuries and property damage. This in itself costs the taxpayer a fortune and so does the administration of justice should any of these people be caught or charged.
In today’s world, I view these photo radar lights and those vehicles in the school zones as nothing more than toll booths on our roads. In my mind they do nothing to increase safety and they do absolutely do nothing to apprehend or stop stolen vehicles, speeding vehicles or impaired drivers.
In other words, I could drink a bottle of whiskey, steal a car, and drive it 100 KMH thru one photo radar trap after another and then do it again. I could probably rear end a vehicle and probably get away with it, unless it was a photo van. My point is how do radar cameras stop this behavior. The only factor involved here is the monetary punishment placed on the offender that gets the ticket. Even if it was not me driving I would still get the ticket as the owner is responsible for his or her vehicle at all times. So a mechanic could drive thru a light speeding and I would get a ticket a few weeks later. There goes innocence until proven guilty in this Province. It would probably be cheaper in my case to plead guilty and have the judge apply the RULE of Gladue.
One good thing about today’s world is that big load powerful cars are not the norm anymore as teenagers today have opted for small gas savers. Instead of big loud motors they fill the trunk with big bass woofers and sub woofers and when you hear the beat it sounds exactly like those big block eights of yesteryear.

CAN I GET A TOE JAM VENTI PLEASE
I sometimes question whether or not the ability to think logically is just another curse. I was sitting in a coffee shop the other day and started looking around. It did not take me long to start noticing things that did not seem right so I started taking mental notes so that I could write about it later.
There were only two comfy living room chairs in the establishment and they were taken by two younger ladies. Their name brand leather handbags were on the coffee table and they talked to each other once in a while between texting and checking their smart phones....One of these women was all curled up, snug as a bug in her chair. She managed to text with one hand and had used the other hand to flip off her shoes so that she could be barefoot in her living room chair....While she sipped her latte, texted and talked she used one hand to inadvertently play with her toes. She then put her shoes back on so that she could add more sugar. She had to of course reach for a new stir stick with the same fingers she had just been playing with her lower digits. That struck me as disgusting as it occurred to me someone else might now grab a stir stick that she had touched and unknowingly dip this stick into their drink and end up with a bonus of coffee a la toe jam. I now could understand why the Character in AS GOOD AS IT GETS carried his own cutlery with him.
While I was making in these observations it then occurred to me that these designer bags, as expensive as they were and as much as people wanted them were actually Trojan horses. Maybe I should have just called them Trojan viruses as it seemed odd that these prized possessions would be on the floors of airplanes, the seats of busses and trains, floors of homes, hotels and motels along with change rooms and bathrooms.
No one would leave their hand bag unattended, so these things would even end up on the floor of washrooms in public places and the like. Now I would not have to tell you what would be living on the floor of any washroom let alone a public washroom or hotel washroom. Yet when the proud owners of these designer bags would exit they would no doubt wash their hands or use hand sanitizer. Such good work but as I drank my coffee I looked at these bags on the coffee tables and remembered that I had recalled seeing them on tables in eating establishments....
Now I knew what the girls meant when they would see one of these designer hand bags and shout out.....OH TO DIE FOR....
I finished my coffee and wondered what I had ingested after I had stirred it and my imagination.
